That's not the quote I referred to. It's similar but a bit different. Brandon was implying Semirhage was probably right in her belief, but didn't want to confirm it for sure.

There's another in which Brandon said it would be very hard (not impossible, but very hard) to channel the TP without Shai'tan's permission. Same thing: he implied Semirhage was right, but didn't want to confirm it just yet.

It seems fairly obvious what Brandon doesn't want to say straight out is that Shai'tan did betray Semirhage, because it's an issue we're not done with (it would be interesting to see how Moridin reacted to that).

There was foreshadowing for all this, incidentally. In LOC, Semirhage sort of foresaw her end. She mentionned she was patient and would kneel to the Nae'blis for as long as it took to get an opportunity to take his place, even if Shai'tan named Rand Nae'blis. Then, she spoke of Shai'tan's whims and secret orders, and if he gave some to her he must give some to the others, and how in tche'ran you can sacrifice valuable pieces (High Counsellors) to win, and that she wouldn't accept to be sacrificed.

It sounds pretty exactly like what happened to her in the end. She unwittingly brought Rand to the state of mind where he could touch the TP, and Shai'tan saw a even greater gain in letting Rand experience the TP than in capturing him. So he betrayed Semirhage.

It sounds quite far fetched that Rand could access the TP or the OP through Moridin. Nothing so far suggests their mental link works anything like thst.



Well, since the DO is the TP, that sounds pretty far fetched that Shai'tan let Rand use him against his will. Even if Rand embraced the TP through Moridin (as unlikely as it sounds), why didn't Shai'tan cut Moridin off? We know from RJ "permission" is more like "letting you" one a one time basis. The TP is there to tap if and when Shai'tan lets you. He can cut someone off at any time.
