true, it's not unheard of for there to be shifts in the kitchens

And I seem to recall that there were times when the novices had to share a room? So that's going to be a possibility, too.
How they're going to keep it from becoming Girls Gone Wild: Pillow Friends episode, who knows..
Elaida's tower was supposed to be like a manor house or a palace, hardly something that could be used to house novices or Asha'man, not without huge renovations, at least. And whose going to start to do interior designing with the LB looming?
Perhaps Trollocs will attack and destroy the place, probably no one would mind.

and eat in shifts with 1000 Novices in the Tower... seems to me they are going to need more housing.
The kitchen was built to be used! It had to be closed only because the Tower is so pathetic. And eating in shifts is hardly unheard of in schools or similar places. IMO nothing here means that they can't cram all the novices into the Tower proper.
I'm sure someone here knows exactly how many novices the Tower was built to hold
But if they were already resorting to shifts in 2 kitchens with 1000 novices, you have to wonder what happens when there are 3000 novices or 5000 ... or if they incorporate the men and suddenly there are 10,000 people trying to live in the Tower.
The thought here is that Egwene opening the Novice book to any who could learn has already increased the number of novices by more than 10x (remember how excited the Tower AS were to have 100 novices). This happened in just a few months. Open and active recruiting could add thousands of Novices in no time. I could see there being 5000 Novices within months of active recruiting just along the Borderlands! Add the lands Rand holds and Andor and the 1000 they picked up in Norther Altara and Murandy will look like the tip of the iceberg! Looking at the WO numbers, there are probably close to 5000 or so WO who can channel if you extrapolate the Shaido numbers and they are a MUCH smaller population of people.
There could easily be upwards of 200,000 potential Channelers out there just waiting to learn. If I were Egwene that would be one of my top priorities... finding as many women as possible to bolster Tower numbers before T'G and probably open war with the Seanchan should they survive T'G!
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!

Possible that they may just use it to house all the new Novices coming in too

According to Egwene they would have to open up the second kitchen

Do you REALLY think the world will have a surplus of building material after Tarmon Gaidon?
