She had tied off the shield and so she had to, at that point, do nothing to maintain the shield. The shield does not disappear when she dies if it is tied off.
I'm surprised, though, that Asmodean couldn't break Lanfear's shield. When Elaida's goonies have Rand in the box, he breaks through a shield that had been tied off by at least two sisters and was still being maintained by one or two more. When they tied off the shield, those nodes became "hard" and he was able to break through. If Lanfear tied off a shield on Asmodean, shouldn't he have eventually been able to untie it? Same for the black sister who had the shield placed on her and woven so intricately that supposedly nobody alive would be able to untangle it.
I think Lanfear's shield was difficult for Asmodean for several reasons...
1. The shield allowed a small amount of saidin through. Usually when strong channelers break shields they pull on the True Source through the shield and the shield bends until it breaks. By allowing some saidin through, the shield probably doesn't bend.
2. She knew he was a Forsaken, so she would have put all her skill into the knots, making them as complex as she could. We've already seen that Moghedien's were very complex, so Lanfear must have really put some effort into it, because we saw at least one occasion where Asmodean tried to test it.
3. Shield-breaking is a skill which Lanfear claims Asmodean doesn't have. Osan'gar claims that he can break any shield with time, and Lews Therin makes similar claims.
