Asmodean seemed genuinely surprised to see his killer - And his killer was someone he knew/recognized. So that makes it unlikely that it was Rand, since seeing Rand in the palace at Andor wouldn't have been a surprise. As I recall, Rand was also shown to be busy elsewhere at the time too. With Bashere I think, but it has been a while since I read that part of the series.
