I was over critical of chapter (hence my reply to myself stating as much).
That you revere every description and have no problems with the pacing of the story is fine. The problem is that this does not make you a better fan than those that miss the pacing of the first half of the series. Nor does it mean that your opinion is somehow more valid than others. People read fantasy for different reasons. Some read for edification others for entertainment. What some people find entertaining others may find tedious. I’m a huge fan of the series and it saddens me that the last half has not fulfilled its promise. Perhaps, I’m too vocal in my criticism, but it is in part because I remember what it used to be. I’m going to try to overcome my jadedness and look at the series with fresh eyes as I work on my current reread.
You obviously have a vast knowledge and understanding of books, much more than the average fan. Yet your inability to view the books with any sort of critical eye damages your credibility. WoT is not literature. It will not be taught in English Lit classes 200 years from now. It has some flaws. Pointing them out doesn’t undo all the wonderful things about the series. Nor does it mean that the fans that point them out are “mindless.”

I'm drinkin' some George Jones,
and a little bit of Coe
Haggard's easin' my misery
and Waylon's keepin' me from home
Hank's givin' me those high times-
Cash is gonna sing it low
I'm here gettin' wasted-
just like my country heroes -Hank III

I think Lews Therin's comments to Rand were the most hugely significant part of the chapter.
