If someone accidentally calls X by Y, it's likely that, if mentioned multiple times in the same sentence or paragraph, they'll remain consistent and always say 'Y' instead of 'X', even if it's a stupid mistake. I've seen this happen hundreds of times--it's just how the mind works. It places certain words in our working memory that apply to particular objects/ideas, and if the wrong word gets put there, it keeps getting used.
