I really like Hitchcock, so:
- North by Northwest and Notorious: Suspense, romance, excitement, spies, doubles-crossings and everything else that makes Hitchcock great.
- M, by Fritz Lang: one of my favorite movies. "M" is a child serial killer in 1930s Berlin. The police are in a frenzy to find him, and this has negative repercussions on the criminal underworld, who decide to take matters into their own hands and find him first.
- 12 Angry Men: A movie so good I still can't believe it isn't based either on a book or a play. The entire film takes place practically in real time, in one single room, where 12 members of a jury debate over their case. Fantastic cinema.
- To Kill a Mockingbird: This one, on the other hand, is adapted from a book And it is an awesome adaptation.

So "The Manchurian Candidate" is still a bit too recent, but I tend not to like older movies
