Fox cancels hit drama series 24
Hit US drama 24 has been axed, with the eighth and current series being its final TV outing. While it ends in the US on 24 May, a big screen version starring Kiefer Sutherland as anti-terrorism agent Jack Bauer is still in the pipeline. Each series has depicted a 24-hour period in real-time, with Bauer's heroics stopping countless catastrophes. Sutherland, an executive producer, said "it had been the role of a lifetime".
He said the cast and crew "always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon". The show helped the former "Brat Pack" movie actor revive his career, as the show won numerous Emmy nominations, finally winning best drama and best lead actor in 2006. "This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible," Sutherland said. "But when all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful." The show was originally shown in the UK on BBC Two but the rights were eventually bought up Sky.
Really not a surprise, the franchise was getting worn.. but it's official now.

I will miss this show, but man this season has had some unintentionally funny moments.
