I don't know if you watched the same version as me, so that may be different, but like I said in my post, there's a general feeling of randomness and things not *quite* making sense in much of the movie. Fortunately, it doesn't go as far as some arthouse movies recently (particularly East-Asian ones - supposedly Kim Ki-Duk is all that, but I'm not a fan, and same with 2046), but it's certainly unusual for a big name Western science fiction movie. Kind of like the latter half of 2001, I suppose.

Still I liked the movie, but it's not one I'd really call "fun" or enjoy rewatching very regularly.
