Star Trek: The Original Movie: It's the very first movie that I remember going to... and I was way little. I still have the mental image of all those people, excitedly waiting, the lights going down... and that theme starting. People cheered.
I remember Star Trek VI, when they destroy the Klingon Bird of Prey... first time in my life I've ever heard a theater break out into applause.
Transformers the Movie... They killed Optimus Prime! The entire group of kids that I was with were outraged.
I was in the theater for that. I remember being surrounded by kids my age and thinking "Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. It would be incredibly embarrassing." I held it in and did not. It was still a powerful moment for a 10/11 year old.
Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan... awesome movie to see on the big screen. 'What are they doing to Chekov's ear!' That totally gave me the willies for weeks.
Yeah. That was creepy.
Return of the Jedi... as kid, seeing that in the theater, I felt like I was part of something magical.
That was awesome to see in the theaters as a child.
Poltergeist... at the drive in... my mom actually had knocked the speaker out of the window she got so scared.
I saw that as a kid, too... what the hell were our parents thinking taking us to see that?
Jurassic Park... dinosaurs on the big screen. It was soooo cool.
It's funny... at the time it was like, "Wow. That looks so real. Mindblowing." Now, it's so commonplace that you don't even care.
Star Ship Troopers... I was reviewing the film for my college news paper. We had just the right audience for that movie. We cheered, clapped, moaned, shouted. One of the most enjoyable crowd experiences ever.
Definite guilty pleasure film.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace... the excitement and energy level of the crowd was immense. Then little R2 saved the day during the escape from the planet. People stood up and cheered.
I think I was with you up until this one. Supremely lame scene. Well, if you include the bit which follows it anyway. Fake Amidala calling for public appreciation of the droid, Captain Panaka reading off his designation, Fake Amidala thanking the droid and sending Padme to clean it up... L-A-M-E. I would have liked that scene if they didn't blatantly announce the droid's identity and just let the audience assume.
Those are just some off the top of my head.
Most memorable movie moments?
