There is a group of European actors who act in many languages, yes.

I mean, I'm not saying there are tons of people completely fluent in multiple languages. But I would think that particularly in such a central country as Germany, a good handful of that age group would at least have a basic "gist" of the surrounding languages. Compared to the US, at least.
I'm not saying it's the norm, but I certainly don't find it surprising in the slightest that a German can speak English and French as well. That's just the impression I've had, though, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

A rising star like Daniel Brühl (from Goodbye Lenin, if that rings any bells) acts in four languages (although he's half-German, half-Spanish, so that helps), and some older ones have done and do the same thing. A fair number of actors from smaller countries like Belgium or the Netherlands have found that brushing up their French or German (or perfecting their English) gets them much more employment opportunities in the larger countries of Europe. Still, the large majority of actors even in Europe only acts in one or sometimes two languages. After all, speaking fluent English is one thing, being able to pass for a native speaker quite something else. And certainly, European movies are more likely than American ones to have multiple languages in one movie, or to have characters speaking in a second or third language, allowing the actor playing the character to have a less than perfect pronunciation. But still those roles aren't *that* numerous.
So I agree with you that it's not really super-impressive that this guy can act in three languages, but all the same, there aren't many German actors who can say the same. After all, the larger a country (or more to the point a language), the less people in it need to learn foreign languages.

For an entertainment admin, you sure are narrow-minded about some quality films out there.
