I'm going to guess the one where Spartacus is fighting in The Pits? Ok...yeah...that episode was fairly brutal and didn't shy away from anything.
The latest episode where Spartacus & Crixis fought that Shadow-of-Death guy...that wasn't that bad. A pretty standard arena fight sequence that was no more/less brutal than Gladiator (with Russel Crowe).
The show has certainly gotten better. I thought that the dork-brother from the Mummy movies & Xena wouldn't pull off the roles that they were cast into...but they have done a pretty good job so far.
