No. They literally just met, which didn't help either. It would've been better if it didn't feel like a tack-on in the first place. They were referencing who does or doesn't "like girls," and it literally had me feeling like I'd missed something. Maybe it was something Joss wanted to flesh out if there had been more Epitaph eps. While trying to wrap up so many other plot threads, all it seemed to do was distract.
I pretty much just saw it as a continuation of the "what's going to happen if we actually manage to fix things" discussions. Conversation about non-end-of-the-world stuff, if you will. Immediately after that, Mag and Zone discussed what they used to be before the world went kablooie, so I didn't really think it was a tonal shift or anything.
