Also, there are thousands of ships looking like the Falcon. I don't think Chewie owned it at the time of ROTS. He didn't get involved until Yoda came to Kashyyyk.
While the Falcon is just another freighter (with modifications), it was owned by Lando, who lost it in a card game or bet to Han, if I remember correctly. Han saved Chewie, who was a slave of the empire, and Chewie stuck with him as a sort of life debt thing.
