Movies:
Best Drama 2009:

Some of these aren't strictly drama, and would have some quarrel with that. However:

1.) District 9 (excellently filmed with the most dramatic elements present.)
2.) Inglorious Basterds (though Christoph Waltz alone would merit higher consideration, this clunky film doesn't serve up enough of that classic Tarantino we'd all like.)
3.) Star Trek (I contend with this the most. Not particularly dramatic, but it did encapsulate the epicness of cosmos, giving grand space battles. It did not, however, reboot the franchise as much as I would like.)


Best Comedy 2009:

1.) Zombieland (this rather newbish director expressed a pearl of a screenplay.)
2.) Up (though really not that comedic, it's still light of heart)
3.) The Hangover (this wins out of the rest, though not by much. It's a bizarre tumultuous foray speckled with some chuckles. However, Galifianakis comes across more like someone with Aspergers than comedic.)


Best acting performance male:

1.) Cristoph Waltz (this man exudes terror. So good.)
2.) Jeremy Renner (also excellent, but I'd like to see him speak three different languages.)
3.) Zachary Quinto (I never thought he could successfully pull it off, but he made quite a success. Third place for having his fingers taped together to give the Vulcan peace sign.)


Best acting performance female:

1.) Zoe Saldana (Her performance was likely the best thing of Avatar.)
2.) Mélanie Laurent (Fills the prerequisite amount of spitfire a lead female needs for this kind of movie, but doesn't really reach beyond.)
3.) Sigourney Weaver (by default.)


Movie with the most Hell Yeah Moments:

1.) Zombieland (the B. M. Mansion is instant classic. B. M. has that kind of charm, though.)
2.) Inglourious Basterds (the tavern scene is impeccably tense.)
3.) Watchmen (for Billy Crudup's penis.)


Most disappointing movie:

1.) Transformers 2 (This was such a monumental failure. From adding in annoying, extraneous characters to having cheap-looking graphics. Thumbs down.)
2.) X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Having no background on the story, I still felt this movie was lacking. Plus I'm having an issue with Jackman starting to look older than he did as Wolverine in the first movie)
3.) Watchmen (just wasn't worth the hype and should've stayed the pinnacle graphic novel it was/is.)


Most pleasant surprise movie:

1.) District 9 (my thoughts going into this movie were broken, whipped, and baked into a cake then shoved right back down my throat. And it was delicious.)
2.) Zombieland (it wasn't so much a surprised as an affirmation. Since the first trailer of this movie, I was pumped.)
3.) Sherlock Holmes (I had little to expect out of this, it being a Christmas release, but I was entertained nonetheless, and pleased with Downey Jr. in his portrayal.)


Best movie of all times:

1.) The Shawshank Redemption (fuck I adore this movie.)
2.) Raiders of the Lost Ark (no argument, I'm sure.)
3.) Star Wars 4,5,6 (by default.)


TV:
Best drama TV show:

1.) Mad Men (what is there not to like?)
2.) Dexter (I can't get enough of this show.)
3.) Lost (still compelling, if it only perpetuates confusion.)


Best comedy TV show:

1.) Community (I can not express how much this show makes me giggle, giggle, giggle, and, that's right, giggle some more.)
2.) The Big Bang Theory (This show only makes geekery that much cooler.)
3.) The Office (though it's quickly losing it's comedy from the roots of the UK edition and turning more into "Friends.")


Best TV show cast:

1.) Community (this ensemble work so well in either pairs or as a whole. The timing they've developed is supernal.)
2.) Big Bang Theory (each character has their flaws that are played upon well, though the show is leaning more and more with Sheldon these days. Not an all bad thing.)
3.) Lost (by default)
