If I remember right, the Queen said something about how gods only existed in people's minds.

I think they will have to convince the town to stop believing in her.


The maenad is not a God. Maryanne's god, Dionysus is who all of this is being prepared for. You may be thinking of Sophie Ann's comment that the maenads wished themselves immortal. So it's not that they believe in her, its that she controls them.

It seems likely Maryanne will try to sacrifice Sookie, now that she has her in her clutches. The important part is how to make her believe that the god has come, without Sookie or Sam dying and being eaten so that Bill/ Eric can kill her.
