I didn't know you had a crippling fear of robots.

It wasn't like "life sucks we live in a hopeless wasteland ravages of war in a cruel world" kind of sad. It was like, real life kind of sad. And then it was happy in the end too. But even for all the flying houses and talking dogs, the emotions in Up were as real as, well, any other movie I can think of. Certainly more real than Avatar.
This is why I kind of struggled on where to put Up in Drama or Comedy, because I think you're right, it wasn't totally a comedy. But it wasn't totally a Drama either. I would definitely put it in Best Picture, but we didn't have one of those.
Up is kind of a weird movie ... straddling the line between happy and sad, drama and comedy, fantasy and reality.
The saddest part of Up, in my opinion anyway, was that if it were real life, Carl would have just gone to the nursing home the same as any number of real old people ...

But, we're talking cartoon characters. They're not supposed to be real. It just adds a level of creepiness to it. It's why I hate Toy Story, or The Incredibles, or even the Nightmare Before Christmas. They creep me out first of all, I tend to become bias against them because they're not real people but they act like real people and try to make them that way and when I go to see something animated, I go to see something not real. I'm not interested in seeing how lifelike animation can be come. I like animation that is obviously fake and makes weak attempts at trying to appear lifelike.
I don't like things that aren't human acting or trying to be humans. It's why I'm deathly afraid of aliens, space, and most of sci-fi. It's also why I'm so scared of robots.

I'm gonna have to file away that information for ... future use.

I get what you're saying though. The Uncanny Valley is deep and wide, and it's freaking scary down there.

And now I've gone and rambled all over the place. Pardon me.

Insert theme music here.

Is it possible to give one movie more than one place/points? like 4 points for example? *NM*

Forgive my incomplete ballot, but I haven't seen all these and don't plan to see some of them.

I went with only one choice for most categories...easier that way.
