Negativo. Honestly, with a few exceptions, I haven't much been a fan of what I've seen of it. Especially with live-action stuff, the extra-realism actually ends up taking me out of the cinematic aspect of the movie/show.

I have felt this way as well at times with certain movies. Not on my TV, as it's just old enough to not make this an issue. A friend of mine recently purchased a new LG-LCD however, and this issue becomes very noticeable, and sometimes to the point of distraction as you state. I noticed it greatly during Spiderman-2, and also for Rambo: First Blood. For Rambo, it was as if you were literally on the set watching the acting. It was strange. But I will say you begin to get used to it, and it becomes "normal". Also, TV settings can be changed to lessen this, and for some movies/shows, it's an absolute treat to have that level of definition. While I know what you're saying, I wouldn't let this hold me back from upgrading. The plus-side is too enormous (assuming you're a big movie/game person).

I would slave, to pave the way, to sink your ship of fools.
