I used to read it to minander. Michael Send a noteboard - 02/09/2009 09:28:18 AM
Ah, the never-ending dilemma. Should I watch it first? Or read it first? I really want to read the novel, but I am worried that will make me hate a movie I really want to love (the trailer has made me cry three times already). Conversely, I'm afraid that if I watch the movie first, I will ruin something of the novel's magic.

Votes?

I would read it first, because there is no way in hell that the movie is going to take anyhting other than the most basic of premises (wee boy goes to monster island in his sleep and becomes king </spoilers>;) and what I am sure the movie studio really wanted, some fabulous monster designs. They will be two different beasts, of that I am sure.

I've a feeling the movie will be quite an expansion of the book. - 02/09/2009 04:49:25 AM 478 Views
