Name me a movie that you think is original and I'll name 3 other movies in the last 30 years that did it first, and possibly better.
Not if I name a movie more than 30 years old.
I thought Equilibrium was a fantastic film, and I recognize that it is a copy of Matrix and Harrison Bergeron and Fahreinheit 451.
That's just one example of a cult favorite film.
To paraphrase a quote I like, every author plagiarizes. The best they can hope for is to do it well.
It also depends on how much they plagiarise, and how long ago the origional was made. The real problem is that some genres are over represented because film-makers try to copy things that were successful in the last 6 months.
Too many similar movies?

I am so sick of procedurals, medical dramas/comedies, and lawyer shows.

The Matrix was the last great science-fiction film? What an idiot.
