It could be fun-ish depending on how things develop, but for the moment it seemed too 2-dimensional. You have the token single mom with the token annoying teenage kid, the priest character was a bit strange in his "aliens and God are not compatible!" attitude, and I called both the evil partner and there being nice Vs before they happened.

All this actually wouldn't bother me that much if the show were a bit lighter. Both this show and Flashforward are two shows that I think I'd really like more if they took themselves slightly less seriously. This may just be a personal preference or a delusion on my part, but I have the impression Lost and Fringe, despite being "serious" sci-fi shows, are able to take a slight step back and comment on how far-out they are sometimes.

But anyway, first episode, we will see how it works out.

The NYT reviewed it. Normally, whatever the NYT thinks about TV, I will think the opposite, but - 04/11/2009 10:15:20 PM 761 Views
