If I remember correctly, Sylar doesn't have all the abilities he stole in Season One. The Company injected him with the Shanti Virus in Season 2, and he lost everything. Then, when he got Mohinder to inject him with a vial of Claire's blood, he only got his telekinesis back. So then he starts his Great Power Hunt by slicing Claire's head off to get her healing ability.

According to wikipedia, Sylar only has his original intuitive aptitude, telekinesis because the writers don't want him carrying around a hacksaw to cut off people's heads, healing, alchemic transmutation (turn stuff into gold), psychometry (seeing the history of things), shape shifting, lie detection, and disintegration. He has something called Thoughtography that he got in a graphic novel, but I don't think he's used it in the show yet.

Out of the list of his current powers, he's using most of them fairly regularly. We don't see him transmuting anything, although from clicking links, it may not be limited solely to transforming things to gold. So there may be hope that that particular power hasn't faded into the ether. And we don't see him fixing things, but that's just because he's too busy running or killing stuff to put things back together.

I kinda like the season so far. I'm almost ashamed to admit, I like Samuel and his carnival more than I like what the good guys are doing. Mostly because Sammy actually has a plan for what he wants to accomplish, and the others are just reeling from disaster to disaster.

I don't think this season is better than Season 1, but its a lot better than the farces they refer to as "season 2" and "season 3"

Whether this (slight) improvement is enough to earn the show a fifth season remains to be seen.
