Well that seemed to take forever, but at last it's done. Jason Momoa, formerly Ronon Dex on STARGATE ATLANTIS, confirmed at a con yesterday that he'd been cast as Khal Drogo (and promptly mooned at the audience as practice for his nude scenes!).

It is also strongly rumoured that Grand Maester Pycelle has also been cast, but his scene from the pilot was cut. The actor will apparently be returning for the series proper, if it gets the pick-up.


Excellent news. For those wondering, characters such as Rickon, Tommen, Myrcella and the Kingsguard knights who accompany the royal party to Winterfell will be non-speaking extras in the pilot. Production starts one week from today.
