Seems rather silly to me.

Am I sorry to hear that the introduction of a human element to science fiction has ruined it for him, as I too mourn the thousands of young boys who will no longer be interested in science or engineering because Lt. Starbuck was turned into a *gasp* woman. How terrifying. I am so, so sorry for his loss.
And so, to reply to his inane arguments in kind, what about the thousands of little girls who have their interest in science kindled by science fiction, and grow up to be scientists and doctors and engineers? Oh, my bad ... I forgot that a woman's place is in the home. I guess I'd better drop out of college or switch to education or nursing or something, and turn on Gossip Girl instead of Star Wars. Because goodness knows there was no romance, philosophy, or human emotional interest in Star Wars. Just men being manly, manly men the way God and nature intended. MY BAD, SORRY I RUINED IT FOR YOU.

The first problem with this argument is that SF was invented by a woman.

Agree. The article seemed more a jab at SciFi / SyFy than pertinent to anything else.
