Up until the last few minutes it was an okay movie, even mildly interesting at times. But the closing scenes were so pessimistic and cynical as to change my feelings for the film to those of disgust and contempt.
Did you see the same film? Have the movie end with him stuck in the sea forever, that would have been cynical and pessimistic. The aliens giving him the illusion of a real and happy life was rather sweet, I found.
They are not aliens. They are actually robots. Descended from the robotic technology which David himself heralded in his time. That is why he, and his connection to humans is so important and why they treasure him and want him to be happy. It's really quite lovely. And sad, sure. But a good sad.
It's been too long since I watched it, but that's true of course

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

I loathe that movie. I piss on it and everything in its message.

I thought the humans merely left the planet, not went about the way of the dinosaurs. *shrug* *NM*
