The Nazi said this in his flash forward to the registry guy. He said that he was released from prison and he owed it all to a murder. At first I thought this was a hint that some shady stuff was about to happen and he'd be important. But then I read that a group of crows is also called a Murder of Crows, much like a school of fish, or a swarm of bees. So when he said that in his flash forward, and then woke up to find the dead crows, or a murder of crows, he knew that is what he as referring too. And that's why he knew it was significant
Before reading your post, I sort of assumed the murder was referring to Agent Noh's murder. That puts a whole new light on things!
I was surprised to see someone claim to "figure it out", even more so to see someone else reply, grateful for that revelation. The characters (Agent Benford and the old Nazi) actually say outright in the episode that the "murder" being referred to is a "grouping of crows". It shouldn't have been something for the audience to figure out. I thought they stated it plainly enough.

BTW I loved the German jab at American history when the woman was talking about Sophie Scholl.

Pertaining to the "I owe it all to a Murder" line.
