Also, the "ae" thing is following an in-story rule, rather than a supposed trope of the genre. It's only the rule for every single Targaryen prince or king except like four. It's better than stories where neighbors have names that don't sound like they come from the same language. As much as it might displease you that Martin has not taken a survey of your reading history to see what is the least common dipthongs, its certainly better than the names Brandon Sanderson excreted for his reader cameos.
