Here it is just a couple decades after the beat the first big bad guy and he let things go to crap again and had to go run and hide. To be fair though if they had started with a stable Jedi council and then had it fall apart it would he felt like the prequels so I guess if you are going to remake one it made sense to remake the best one.

I never read the books but I suspect they will throw bones to fans of the books but they will not feel bound by them.
