Overall I thought it was great, definitely better than the Prequels, though not sure yet where fits against Original movies (may need to see it a bit more first ).
I thought Kylo Ren was an interesting villain, and once clear that was Solo's son, I guessed what was going to happen to Han eventually, especially after Leia asked Han to try and bring him home.
He was conflicted, and as opposed to Canolli, while the overall affect is an evil person wanting to be more evil, I don't think he thinks of himself / Vader as evil (nor his overlord person).
I think he more believes like the New Order / Empire that the Galaxy needs Order above everything else, and to do that you need to rule by force / tyranny, and so Vader looks like a good example of this, and Kylo Ren appears to battle with fear about the light side breaking through, and that this isn't what he wants to be, and thinks that he needs to be stronger (perhaps a bit like the cycle Dark Rand went through?).
Both Dark Side characters seemed to portray it as not a battle between good / evil, but two different viewpoints, equally seductive (the overlord warning Ren not to be seduced by the Light Side).
Sad to see Han die, though it was a powerful scene.
Curious to see where the next movie picks up - all the other movies have generally had a few years occur between movies, but this one seemed set up to go straight into the next movie, with the scene between Luke / Rey.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Luke's character - he is potentially going on a reverse journey to Kylo Ren - a strong believer in 'good' - freedom of choice, preventing tyranny etc., but potentially finding his deeds are causing more issues than solving - so may not want to get involved at all.
So Ren is trying to do more to become stronger, while Luke is trying to do less to prevent more damage.
Anyway, it will be a hard 18 month wait!
