Harriet has sounded off, and she says she had no clue this was in the works. No one from the Jordan estate was involved. Universal also might not have been involved.

Apparently, there's legal precedent in such cases to not count these last minute attempts as anything but a violation of the spirit of the agreement.

And Werthead from thewertzone says Harriet hinted that there was a lot of active interest in an adaptation. Hopefully, they'll be able to wrest the rights from REE.


I'd like to see it gotten away from REE, from everything I've read about them. They seem to pretty much just muck up every project they're involved with. But one thing I will say: this absolutely sparked big interest. This is easily the most engaged the fandom has been since AMoL came out. That's gonna show up on the radars of some big name studios, I'm guessing, so if Harriet can get the rights back and get them in the hands of someone worth something...who knows.
