It would, and unless they massively changed the circumstances (Stannis attacking while Jon is with Mance, the Horn of Winter, the Wildlings wanting to be allowed south of the Wall etc.), it wouldn't have made such a great episode. The battle would have been shortened by a good 8 to 12 min for this aftermath to be set up and occur, and some character stuff that increased the emotional impact of the battle(Sam's story, Pyp, Green, the Janos stuff, Ed, some of the Wildling build up etc.) wouldn't have been as good. Same for the intensity of the battle itself.
They could perfectly have added the extra 15 min to episode 9 instead of 10 to include this, but it still might have been a false "good idea" to end the episode with the Mance stuff and Stannis after the adrenaline rush of the battle itself. In the books, this went on for days against Mance before Stannis arrived.
Now I'm not so sure we'll have another battle with Stannis crushing Mance's forces. I wouldn't be surprised the landing of Stannis's army forces rapidly the surrender of Mance (and saves Jon). I don't expect them to go very far into the next arc, eg: this might end with a first encounter between Jon and Stannis and some words between them (offer to legitimize him already? Possibly.), but they may not have any "return to CB" stuff. I expect Slynt and Thorne will get Jon arrested for having gone to Mance, but I think they'll keep all this for next year's Jon arc.
