It's intelligent, well shot, well crafted story, right mix of humour and kick ass action, and is really well paced. Like you say, despite it being an amalgamation of a number of other ideas, it still feels fresh.

And whether people like him or not, Tom Cruise knows how to do an action movie. It's just a shame it looks like a good action movie will flop at the box office due to lack of a big name franchise. Which would be a shame for cinema as a whole tbh.
