At the end, Peter Capaldi's cameo face announced that he was the thirteenth iteration. So Matt Smith is the twelfth, Tennant the eleventh, and so on.

They seem to have blocked a lot of their memory of what the true Ninth Doctor (Hurt) did, though, so they maybe never thought of themselves that way before. But now they will, since they sort of officially accepted the Hurt version as a true Doctor at the end of the episode.
