Americans are often uptight prudes. They're also often shallow, artificial and boring, particularly if they live in suburbs where those "character traits" are expected. So what? I'm an American and I don't consider myself any of those things. They're still valid criticisms of a lot of Americans. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
