It wasn't as straight forward as Carl's or Herschel's side, of course, but somewhere in the middle. Carl could have easily backed away or specified "put your gun down beside you" but he didn't. But yeah, the kid was doing some shifty stuff. The one thing I am glad about is that Carl didn't go running in after saying he should be there. I think that would have tipped the scales and he would have trumped Andrea as worst character of the series. Now that Andrea is gone, I think he is anyway. I think he's getting the hang of "Carl, stay in the house!"

And deservedly so. Early on Rick noticed that he is not a little kid anymore, can be trusted with guns and has to fight on his own sometimes. The incident with the kid now showed that it comes with a price in this new world.
But I agree, taking him with the away team would still have been stupid, just like him running after them. Glad they didn't go that way.
A young boy is a tricky character to have in such a show, so I hope he doesn't become Andrea II.
