I found it really, really dark at times but I thought the acting was pretty good. I was surprised to see De Niro's performance was so strong as most of his recent films have been really lackluster. Lawrence was fantastic and I think she has a good shot at the Oscar and Bradley Cooper was remarkably likeable and showed a much more pronounced ability to act than any other film I have seen him in.
I can't help feeling that both the movie's chances at getting awards and Lawrence's chances for individual awards (of course, she already got a Golden Globe...) were hurt by the way the movie failed to carry things all the way through. Loved that diner scene, but as you say, the last act was just plain tame rom-com fare.
I haven't seen Bradley Cooper in anything else that I can remember - what's he in?
The pacing was a bit troublesome and the last act was pretty by the numbers dram-com, but overall I think it was a decent film.
Didn't really have issues with the pacing, that I can recall... what are you thinking of?

More importantly, I saw a screen shot of Jennifer Lawrence in exercise clothing.
