Apart from your title (and from the point about loving the characters, as I didn't honestly have much of an emotional bond with those characters beforehand, not having read any of their comics and having seen just one Iron Man movie), I agree with all of that.
I devoured them in the late 80s, so I had rather strict expectations about the interaction of those characters and the kind of adventures they'd have. Scenes like the fixing of the crashing helicarrier or Thor in the spinning capsule were so close to what could have been a part of those old comics, it was a pleasure to see on the big screen after all those years. As an old fanboy I couldn't have been happier.
