I suppose I am tired of the reboots being "dark", having lots of explosions, etc

From my FB,
"The name of the film may include the words Star Trek. But from the footage released so far, the spirit has nothing to do with what Gene Roddenberry envisioned. When will the turn to apocalyptic/darkness/dystopian finally end? I grow weary of the minds who think the future will be so bleak."

I am no big fan of stories that take the "things will be very fucked up in a few (hundred) years" approach. I am quite optimistic myself.
But I don't really think that's what's happening here. I suppose the federation and its ideals still stand. It's just one psycho or a group of villains messing things up and us getting some action out of it. Every good Sci-Fi story needs that
New Superman about to come out, the Batman films, the new Spiderman reboot. All dark. Perhaps it is the post 2001 world we live in where the vision of the future is not the same as it was during the 60s. Then again during the 60s people were worried about mutual assured destruction.
Poor Star Trek. Vulcan got obliterated in the first new film by Abrams. I expect something different from Star Trek. Discovery, Exploration, A Sense of Wonder, and yes Adventure. From the teaser trailer all I can get is explosions, terrorism of some sort, fear, and war. It's even amusing that for a Star Trek film, I saw very little set in space.
This is not to say that the trailer for the film looks bad in any way. It just doesn't look or feel like Star Trek to me. I want to see the "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before." made into film. Not another film about some madman trying to destroy Earth and the Federation.
What? Jens has not posted the Star Trek Into Darkness trailer? I am shocked.
