My impression was this. LOST.
Starts off with something major happening, The Black Out. All electronics stop working. It skips 15 years later, and you spend the whole episode trying to decide if you want to see another one. Then the ending happens and you are like, "Well now I have to see the next one."
The acting was only so-so to me. The characters didn't grab my attention as much as they did on the first episode of other shows.

Castle: This is so weird. I dressed up as him for Halloween.
Beckett: Me too.
~When Castle and Beckett met Gene Simmons.

It's free on Hulu/NBC so I've watched the first episode already. (no spoilers)

I understand it's a rip-off of the premise of SM Stirling's Emberverse (which sucks)

When I saw the premise, I thought for sure it was based on his books. *NM*

I liked it enough to keep watching but I have a bad feeling it is not going to last. *NM*
