I recently sat down and watched Melancholia off of Netfix and I came here to see if anyone else had watched and reviewed it. Too bad the director tarnished himself right as this film was coming out. I hadn't heard about all that before I came here to search. The film has amazing cinematography I can watch this movie again just for the visuals alone. I liked how the story was told visually. I liked how the back story was in the faces, body language, actions, and brief dialogue of the characters. My favorite character was the planet Melancholia as it lurked menacingly beautiful in the background. The sound track was haunting. My son, who is a bit autistic, watched some of the movie with me he said he didn't know what the characters were feeling because he couldn't decide how the music felt. Kind of a side note on how movies tell us stories. I'm always fascinated by his observations. Oh..rambling. Anyway. I don't know if you would see the movie because of the remarks made by the director, but my intention when I came looking was to urge people to give this movie a try. It is kind of an artsy movie. Not everyone likes those.
