The whole "changing fate" thing didn't make very much sense in the context of the story. It was much more about mother-daughter relationships (that aspect of it was very well done, I thought).
I felt like they kind of half-a$$ed the story. It could have been great with better storytelling (for example, a prologue about the brothers who tore the kingdom apart and better tie-ins between that story and Merida's).
The characters were excellent, and technically it was astounding as you would expect from Pixar. It just wasn't as thoroughly excellent as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, or Monsters, Inc.

Most of us were fine with Mulan. We didn't need to see what it would look like in Scotland *NM*

Yep, this. Wife's opinion: "Good for a movie, bad for a Pixar movie." *NM*

I was gonna review it back when I'd returned from the States, but I forgot.
