I was just thinking of 28 Days Later and assuming his accent was legit.

The big "twist" wasn't a twist or surprise to anyone vaguely familiar with Batman's story or the casting news. It was a natural progression for the story to take, and it was an understandable surprise for Bruce, who had no reason to believe Bane wasn't the child who had climbed out of the pit and who in his close association with Ra's Al-Ghul had reason to believe the latter had no surviving family.
I was only going on my perception that someone SAID Bane got out as an adult, plus the story of his mouth injury. I didn't quite see the daughter coming, but Miranda's character screamed 'bad guy' all along. Otherwise, it's too much of a coincidence that Bane's plan depended on knowledge of a secret technology Wayne Enterprises is sitting on, as well as their developing it in the first place. She was the one who pushed it through, after all, and her key role in marking the truck seemed like an obvious chance for betrayal. That's what I mean about satisfying plot twists. I didn't figure this one out because I read Nolan's mind, but because it was organic to a movie in a plot that makes sense (for a given degree of making sense, of course). Other plot twists generally have the bad guy's plan depending on amazing coincidences, and foreknowledge of how their first plan will fail to have set up an amazingly thorough and complex backup plan. Miranda was suspicious not because you could see an overused trope coming, but because she was doing suspicious things.
Also, good twists were similarly easy to identify, like Alfred's fantasy ending scenario (I thought the brief glimpse of Selina's face could be interpreted as exasperation that they have to keep coming to this cafe so Bruce can make it come true for Alfred) and as a result, Batman faking his death. The trilogy did a good job setting you up to believe that Batman could and would die in this one with all the talk of the legend being more than the man, and different men filling the same role or the line about "you either dying fighting or live long enough to become the villain" and the otherwise unnecessary role given to a leading actor and Nolan veteran. But the movie made it plausible that Blake had the motivation to be Batman, and the fate of Dent and the lessons Bruce learned in this movie made his retirement a case of "epic win" rather than a lame cop-out.

Eh. The "political message" was a sham, a smokescreen. There wasn't one.

Well, his goal is despair. It'd be even more effective if there was a guard at the top.
