I didn't realize Avatar was such an epic story that required so many sequels

But then, I had no interest in seeing even the first one, so I don't know much about it aside from it supposedly existing solely for the purpose of showing off the 3d and special effects. And I can't see those being able to carry so many sequels, or maybe even one sequel, now that nearly everyone has seen the original Avatar and 3D movies (albeit poorly done 3D) have inundated the market.

I don't foresee this franchise continuing to be as popular/profitable to film successive sequels

Didn't Weaver die in the movie? How many sequels to Dances with Wolves (in space) can there be? *NM*

Doesn't her spirit join the ancestors? She probably achieved some astounding insight.
