Because he played a robot, I refer to him as Bender in the movie. He was excellent, straddling the line between emotionless, existential, and creepy, and along with the visuals he was the high point of the movie for me. Idris Elba was also very good as the captain, and I loved the final scenes of the Prometheus.
I am curious about the tie-ins to the Alien lore, but I'm not a longtime nor a hardcore Alien fan, so I might be more willing to forgive if it turns out they don't actually know what they're doing regarding any of the discrepancies and open-ended questions that riddled the plot.
Now, I don't mind open-ended questions. They make you think about things, at least. But since this movie is apparently attempting to answer some of the open-ended questions from Alien, it would be nice if they did so without resorting to nothing but more open-ended questions.

The Vickers stuff is pretty annoying. There are no good villians.
