So here we go. I saw Prometheus this last weekend...and I was enraged at the dropped ball. What could have been an awsome experience in fear of discovering the origin to the best horror/sci-fi movie....instead dribbled down to fantastical space voyage.

Anywhoo....I was reading the discussions above, and here are my thoughts.

The moon that they landed on in Prometheus was named LV-223. That is not the same name as the "planet" that they landed on in Alien. Although they never came right out and said that they were on a moon, it is strongly implied that it was a moon in Alien. It was in orbit of a gas giant that had a ring system. That all fits and is consistent through Alien & Aliens.

Only in Alien & Aliens, the name of the....body....that they land on is LV-426. The atmosphere is deadly, and the geography is dramatically different.

Let's talk about the ship. The ship that the crew of the Nostromo found in Alien had a fossilized alien sitting in that center console chair. Also on that round platform that the chair was on...there would have been a burned out hole. It is this hole that Kane is lowered into. That chamber was *huge*...that has all the eggs. In Prometheus, the alien guy was no where near that chair or ship.

Lastly is the scale of the ship....specifically where the Engineer guy is in his sleep pod. At best, the guy looks to be no bigger then a tall basketball player with the build of a weightlifter. The scale is off. The fossilized alien in Aliens was much bigger. In Alien, Dallas, Lambert, and Kane had to reach over their heads to crawl onto the round center platform, the crew this time just hopped up onto it...or took the stairs. Also in Prometheus, the main girl (whatever her name is) left through one of those vagina looking ship openings. Her size in proportion to the ship opening is off....the opening should have been much bigger.

Untimately, unless someone didn't do their homework, the planetoid they landed on in Prometheus isn't the same as the one in Alien. And let's say it is (even though the terrain, geography, atmosphere, day/night light cycle is *completely* different), that can't be the same ship....its too small. And even if it was the same ship...the Engineer alien is too small. And even if it was the same Alien Engineer...he should have died in his chair. And even if they screwed that up, it doesn't fit with Alien.

Let's say the Nostromo lands as predicted....a few kilometers away from the ship. They walk there...and they see no evidence of...I don't know...the Prometheus? Or the shuttle pod....or the escape pod? The Nostromo may have been the working class man's space ship compared to the Prometheus...but it has sensors....it tested the atmosphere, and could read "deep coal...well below the line." You're telling me it couldn't pick up the presense of complex alloys.

In my rage filled summary & conclusion, the planetoid and ship discovered in Prometheus cannot be the same as the one in Alien.

p.s.- I am *almost* on the verge of repressing this movie entirely. I already have it rated lower then Alien 3 & Alien Res.
