Ships snoopcester Send a noteboard - 13/06/2012 04:12:57 PM
I don't think this alien can be related to the alien from Alien, at least not directly. The ship that crashed can't be the same one from Alien, because a) there's nobody in the suit, since the Engineer left it to go to the life pod, b) there was no big hollow complex beside the ship in Alien, c) Weyland (the company) knows exactly where this planet is, and that doesn't fit with what we see in Alien, and d) there's no reason the ship that crashed here would have a signal beacon going for the Nostromo to pick up.

Did we get told there was only one other ship on the planet? The alien could go into a third ship looking for pray and wake up another Engineer in it, then impregnate the Engineer with a face hugger (assuming it can do) who then takes off...

Personally I think the ship we saw in Alien is the ship that Shaw took to go find the Engineers. It crashed somewhere, after doing whatever she does (which we will perhaps see in the sequel?), and that's what Weyland was secretly looking out for. Presumably the ship Shaw took would also have the weapons on it, and so in he right circumstances could also produce a xenomorph. And that might mean that Shaw (or a rebuilt David) was the one inside the suit in Alien.

Possibly, though in Alien I thought they had a pretty good look inside the suit through the hole, so they might well have noticed that the suit had a tiny human or android rattling around inside it.

Given the Engineers on the planet seem like they were mostly killed off by the aliens long in the past and I think the Space Jockey in Alien was supposed to be long dead and crystallised the logical, to me anyway, thing would be for the Space Jockey to have been either trying to flee the disaster but accidentally took an alien along with him or was already infected and going to find more life to infect.
