Death before dishonor and that sort of thing. Fighting and dieing would be seen as preferable to winning a fight in a less than honorable way. Some Minbari would accept the fact that alien cultures did not see honor in the same light, but others would not be so accepting and expect alien militaries to act in a similar honorable manner.
All good things come to those who wait.
