It'd be like having Batman and never once showing the Batcave or Batmobile. You could do it and get away with it, but fans would whine.

I do wonder if by showing how easily it was almost taken out and having Banner go on about how it submerging would be cooler, that Whedon wasn't lampshading the lunacy of the concept and explaining why he won't use it in the future. Maybe in THE AVENGERS 2 (or the next time SHIELD shows up) they'll have a Sub-Carrier instead?


I suspect you are right. Whedon does things like that...and yes a submersible carrier now THAT would be badass.
