The only thing I still buy on DVD is old Doctor Who DVD releases since the picture quality sucks anyway.
The switch from video cassette to DVD wasn't nearly recent enough to make me want to switch to Blu-Rays already. Especially since I don't give a toss about the improved image quality - never had any complaints with DVDs.
Betecam is the professional "cousin" of betamax. It's never gone away, it rapidly became the standard for news cameras, then overcame the better but far more expensive and cumbersome formats used in editing/boradcast markets, then it was when it went digital that standard really took off, and in its latest incarnation it's a dominant HD format, used even in digital cinema. Same size of tape as the consummer betamax of old (really different recording systems, though, but all from the same company).
Blu Ray is here to stay a while. Alas in a way, because its rather disappointing compared to full uncompressed HD, but even for the really good consummer grade TVs and screens, it's good enough (in a professional screening room, the difference between BR and the original source is rather unmistakable). There's still room for much technical improvement in the home market for it to catch up to the quality of the HD sources, but there's no way the MPAA and co. would even support the introduction of something better much better than BR on the consummer market in a foreseeable future.
It really looks like no one watches Mad Men based on the absence of discussion.

I intend to, at some point. Though as Stephen notes, the DVDs are expensive. *NM*

People buy DVDs? I thought everything was streaming or Blu-Ray now.

I'm still hoping Blu-Ray will go the way of the betacam.

You're also by default saying you can't pay for Netflix streaming

Not much to say. Everyone's an asshole, so you watch it without caring or getting involved.

Yes, but that role still fits the common thread of casting and how it relates to Mad Men

I think you're selectively remembering roles for many of the cast members.

I've never seen more than about 3 minutes of an episode. The idea is not interesting to me. *NM*
