YA has become huge in the past 5-10 years, thanks to Harry Potter and others. Legolas Send a noteboard - 25/03/2012 08:58:58 PM
The Hunger Games? When did this become a big enough thing to have the hordes of adoring fans my facebook news feed tells me it does (judging by their rapturous statuses about the movie)? I mean, i think I may have heard that name before, but it still seems like this movie came out of nowhere. But maybe that's just me, lol.

And yes, among YA books, The Hunger Games has been a household name for the past few years. I've seen the name mentioned often enough on this forum over the past years that I had it marked down as something I should read at some point, even before I heard they were going to make a movie.

So on the one hand, it sort of is just you. :P On the other hand, YA fiction is to some extent quite separate from "adult" fiction, and there are few YA series that really are big enough to become famous even among people who have no interest in the genre, the way the HP and Twilight books did.

It's definitely marketed as such, whatever its content. - 30/03/2012 08:59:37 PM 646 Views

I liked the movie, but the absolute funniest part was during the trailers: - 25/03/2012 11:13:34 PM 874 Views

I liked it, but at times, I felt like I was a citizen of Panem, watching kids get killed on screen. - 27/03/2012 08:07:48 PM 674 Views
Especially since Katniss is described as olive skinned herself. - 27/03/2012 09:25:46 PM 666 Views
I must have forgotten the part where they described Rue. - 28/03/2012 02:23:14 PM 763 Views

Well, it's one thing to not pay attention to physical descriptions - 28/03/2012 11:38:57 PM 619 Views
