YA has become huge in the past 5-10 years, thanks to Harry Potter and others.

The Hunger Games? When did this become a big enough thing to have the hordes of adoring fans my facebook news feed tells me it does (judging by their rapturous statuses about the movie)? I mean, i think I may have heard that name before, but it still seems like this movie came out of nowhere. But maybe that's just me, lol.
And yes, among YA books, The Hunger Games has been a household name for the past few years. I've seen the name mentioned often enough on this forum over the past years that I had it marked down as something I should read at some point, even before I heard they were going to make a movie.
So on the one hand, it sort of is just you. On the other hand, YA fiction is to some extent quite separate from "adult" fiction, and there are few YA series that really are big enough to become famous even among people who have no interest in the genre, the way the HP and Twilight books did.

YA is a fairly recent invention anyway. (Not that it isn't great! I think it's a great invention!)

I liked the movie, but the absolute funniest part was during the trailers:

I liked it, but at times, I felt like I was a citizen of Panem, watching kids get killed on screen.

Especially since Katniss is described as olive skinned herself.
